Important Message for All Muslim Parents
Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,
We live in a time where fitnah (trials) has reached even the most sacred places — including madrasas, Islamic schools, and even homes where children are taught the Qur’an.
It is painful to say, but we must speak the truth:
There have been real cases where even Qur'an teachers, entrusted with the deen of Allah, have harmed, abused, or molested innocent children. This does not mean we disrespect scholars or teachers, but it does mean, "Trust should never replace responsibility."
1. Stay Present
* Do not leave your child alone with any teacher — even a Qur'an or Islamic teacher — without supervision, especially in private settings.
* Make Qur’an learning a visible and open process, not a hidden one.
2. Talk to Your Child Regularly
* Ask them how their teacher treats them.
* Teach them about body safety and boundaries in an age-appropriate, Islamic way.
3. Empower Them to Speak Up
* Let them know it’s okay to say NO if someone tries to touch them inappropriately — even if it’s a religious person.
* Teach them: “If something feels wrong, tell Mama or Baba immediately.”
4. Do Background Checks
* Know who is teaching your child.
* Check if the teacher has a good reputation, and observe how they behave with children.
Even the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
Respect for scholars is wajib, but accountability is also wajib. No one is above the Shariah — not a Maulana, not a Hafiz, not even a parent.“The believer is not stung twice from the same hole.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim)
* Believe your child. Don’t silence them to “protect someone’s izzat (honor).”
* Report abuse to authorities — Islam commands justice, not covering up crimes.
* Support your child emotionally and spiritually.
Allah has entrusted us with our children, and we will be answerable to Him for their care:
Let’s raise a generation of children who love the Qur’an and Islam — and who are protected, respected, and emotionally secure.“O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is people and stones…”
(Surah At-Tahrim 66:6)
