Meaning: The Slanderer | Has 9 Verses | Revealed In: Mecca (Makki Surah)
1. وَيْلٌ لِّكُلِّ هُمَزَةٍ لُّمَزَةٍ
Woe to every backbiter and slanderer,
2. الَّذِي جَمَعَ مَالًا وَعَدَّدَهُ
Who gathers wealth and counts it over and over,
3. يَحْسَبُ أَنَّ مَالَهُ أَخْلَدَهُ
Thinking that his wealth will make him live forever!
4. كَلَّا لَيُنبَذَنَّ فِي الْحُطَمَةِ
No! He will surely be thrown into the Crusher (Hellfire).
5. وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْحُطَمَةُ
And what can make you know what the Crusher is?
6. نَارُ اللَّهِ الْمُوقَدَةُ
It is Allah’s kindled Fire,
7. الَّتِي تَطَّلِعُ عَلَى الْأَفْئِدَةِ
That reaches and penetrates the hearts.
8. إِنَّهَا عَلَيْهِم مُّؤْصَدَةٌ
Indeed, it will be closed in on them,
9. فِي عَمَدٍ مُمَدَّدَةٍ
