Chapter 114: Surah An-Nas (سورة الناس)
Meaning: Mankind | Has 6 Verses | Revealed In: Mecca (Makki Surah)

1. قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ
Say: I seek refuge with (Allah), the Lord of mankind,
2. مَلِكِ النَّاسِ
The King (Allah) of mankind,
3. إِلَـٰهِ النَّاسِ
The God (Allah) of mankind,
4. مِن شَرِّ الْوَسْوَاسِ الْخَنَّاسِ
From the evil of the whisperer (shaitan or evil thoughts) who withdraws (on hearing the name of Allah),
Meaning: Allah is teaching us to seek protection from the hidden evil influences that affect our thoughts, tempt us toward sin, or create doubts and bad intentions. These "whispers" are often subtle, and the devil runs away when we turn back to Allah.
5. الَّذِي يُوَسْوِسُ فِي صُدُورِ النَّاسِ
Who (shaitan or evil thoughts) whispers in the hearts of mankind,
Meaning: Whispers are not audible sounds, but internal suggestions, like temptations or evil thoughts. They may tell you to lie, cheat, look at something haram, delay prayers, or doubt your faith.
6. مِنَ الْجِنَّةِ وَالنَّاسِ
(The evil whisperers are from) Among jinn and among mankind.
Meaning: It means that sometime Shaitan, Jinn or even people influence you with bad advice, peer pressure, or encourage sin — they act like devils in human form. This verse shows the hidden danger of both invisible and visible influences. It reminds us to stay alert, seek Allah’s protection, and choose good company.
This Surah is a powerful prayer for protection from evil whispers—both seen and unseen. It reminds us that only Allah, the Lord, King, and God of all people, can protect us from hidden spiritual dangers.
