Chapter 98: Surah Al-Bayyinah (The Clear Proof)

Chapter 98: Surah Al-Bayyinah (سورة البينة)
Meaning: The Clear Proof | Has 8 Verses | Revealed In: Medina (Madani Surah)
1. لَمْ يَكُنِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ وَٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ مُنفَكِّينَ حَتَّىٰ تَأْتِيَهُمُ ٱلْبَيِّنَةُ
Those who disbelieved among the People of the Book and the polytheists were not going to desist (stop doing wrong things) until there came to them clear evidence
2. رَسُولٌۭ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ يَتْلُوا۟ صُحُفًۭا مُّطَهَّرَةًۭ
A messenger from Allah reciting purified scriptures,
3. فِيهَا كُتُبٌۭ قَيِّمَةٌۭ
Wherein are correct and upright writings.
4. وَمَا تَفَرَّقَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا جَآءَتْهُمُ ٱلْبَيِّنَةُ
Nor did those who were given the Scripture become divided until after there had come to them clear evidence.
Meaning: Those who were given the Scripture" means the followers of previous revelations (Torah, Gospel). They were united in awaiting the truth, but when the clear evidence (i.e., the final Messenger ﷺ and the Qur’an) came, they became divided and some believed, while others rejected. This division was not due to lack of knowledge, but due to pride, jealousy, or worldly desires.
5. وَمَآ أُمِرُوٓا۟ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ ٱلدِّينَ حُنَفَآءَ وَيُقِيمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَيُؤْتُوا۟ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ ۚ وَذَٰلِكَ دِينُ ٱلْقَيِّمَةِ
And they were not commanded except to worship Allah, [being] sincere to Him in religion, inclining to truth, and to establish prayer and to give zakah. And that is the correct religion.
6. إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ وَٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ فِى نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمْ شَرُّ ٱلْبَرِيَّةِ
Indeed, those who disbelieved among the People of the Book and the polytheists will be in the fire of Hell, abiding eternally therein. Those are the worst of creatures.
7. إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمْ خَيْرُ ٱلْبَرِيَّةِ
Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds — those are the best of creatures.
8. جَزَآؤُهُمْ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ جَنَّـٰتُ عَدْنٍۢ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدًۭا ۖ رَّضِىَ ٱللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ وَرَضُوا۟ عَنْهُ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ لِمَنْ خَشِىَ رَبَّهُۥ
Their reward with their Lord will be gardens of perpetual residence beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever. Allah is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him. That is for whoever has feared his Lord.
