Meaning: The Splitting | Has: 19 Verses | Revealed In: Mecca (Makki Surah)

1. إِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ ٱنفَطَرَتْ
When the sky breaks apart,
2. وَإِذَا ٱلْكَوَاكِبُ ٱنتَثَرَتْ
And when the stars fall, scattering,
3. وَإِذَا ٱلْبِحَارُ فُجِّرَتْ
And when the seas are burst forth,
4. وَإِذَا ٱلْقُبُورُ بُعْثِرَتْ
And when the graves are overturned,
5. عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌۭ مَّا قَدَّمَتْ وَأَخَّرَتْ
Every soul will \[then] know what it has put forth and kept back.
6. يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مَا غَرَّكَ بِرَبِّكَ ٱلْكَرِيمِ
O mankind! What has deceived you concerning your Lord, the Most Generous,
7. ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكَ فَسَوَّىٰكَ فَعَدَلَكَ
Who created you, fashioned you, and balanced you?
8. فِىٓ أَىِّ صُورَةٍۢ مَّا شَآءَ رَكَّبَكَ
In whatever form He willed, He assembled you.
9. كَلَّا بَلْ تُكَذِّبُونَ بِٱلدِّينِ
No! But you deny the Judgment.
10. وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكُمْ لَحَـٰفِظِينَ
But verily, over you are watchers,
11. كِرَامًۭا كَـٰتِبِينَ
Noble and recording,
12. يَعْلَمُونَ مَا تَفْعَلُونَ
They know whatever you do.
13. إِنَّ ٱلْأَبْرَارَ لَفِى نَعِيمٍۢ
Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure,
14. وَإِنَّ ٱلْفُجَّارَ لَفِى جَحِيمٍۢ
And indeed, the wicked will be in Hellfire,
15. يَصْلَوْنَهَا يَوْمَ ٱلدِّينِ
They will \[enter to] burn therein on the Day of Recompense,
16. وَمَا هُمَعَنْهَا بِغَآئِبِينَ
And never will they therefrom be absent.
17. وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ
And what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense?
18. ثُمَّ مَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ
Again, what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense?
19. يَوْمَ لَا تَمْلِكُ نَفْسٌۭ لِّنَفْسٍۢ شَيْـًۭٔا ۖ وَٱلْأَمْرُ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ لِّلَّهِ
It is the Day when no soul will have power for another at all, and the command, that Day, is entirely with Allah.
Significance of Surah Al-Infitar:
This Surah gives a powerful description of the Day of Judgment when the heavens will split and graves will open. It warns of divine accountability and reminds mankind of their Guardian Angels who record every deed. It urges reflection on human negligence and highlights the ultimate justice of Allah.
