Meaning: The Woman Who Disputes | Has 22 Verses | Revealed In: Medina (Madani Surah)
1. قَدْ سَمِعَ ٱللَّهُ قَوْلَ ٱلَّتِي تُجَـٰدِلُكَ فِي زَوْجِهَا
Indeed, Allah has heard the statement of the woman who disputes with you (O Prophet) concerning her husband.
2. ٱلَّذِينَ يُظَـٰهِرُونَ مِنكُم مِّن نِّسَآئِهِم
Those among you who separate from their wives by ẓihār—they are not their mothers.
3. وَٱلَّذِينَ يُظَـٰهِرُونَ مِن نِّسَآئِهِمْ ثُمَّ يَعُودُونَ لِمَا قَالُوا۟
Those who pronounce ẓihār and then go back on what they said must free a slave.
4. فَمَن لَّمْ يَجِدْ فَصِيَامُ شَهْرَيْنِ مُتَتَابِعَيْنِ
But he who cannot find one must fast for two consecutive months.
5. إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يُحَآدُّونَ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ
Indeed, those who oppose Allah and His Messenger will be debased.
6. يَوْمَ يَبْعَثُهُمُ ٱللَّهُ جَمِيعًۭا
On the Day when Allah will resurrect them all and inform them of what they did.
7. أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَعْلَمُ مَا فِي ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِي ٱلْأَرْضِ
Do you not see that Allah knows whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth?
8. أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ نُهُوا۟ عَنِ ٱلنَّجْوَىٰ
Have you not seen those who were forbidden from secret counsel?
9. يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِذَا تَنَـٰجَيْتُمْ
O you who believe! When you converse privately, do not do so for sin and hostility.
10. إِنَّمَا ٱلنَّجْوَىٰ مِنَ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ
Private conversation is only from Satan to cause grief to the believers.
11. يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِذَا قِيلَ لَكُمْ تَفَسَّحُوا۟ فِي ٱلْمَجَـٰلِسِ
O you who believe! When you are told to make room in gatherings, make room.
12. يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِذَا نَـٰجَيْتُمُ ٱلرَّسُولَ
O you who believe! When you privately consult the Messenger, offer charity beforehand.
13. أَأَشْفَقْتُمْ أَن تُقَدِّمُوا۟ بَيْنَ يَدَىْ نَجْوَىٰكُمْ صَدَقَـٰتٍۢ
Are you afraid to offer charity before your private consultations?
14. أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ تَوَلَّوْا۟ قَوْمًۭا غَضِبَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِم
Have you not seen those who befriend a people with whom Allah is angry?
15. أَعَدَّ ٱللَّهُ لَهُمْ عَذَابًۭا شَدِيدًا
Allah has prepared for them a severe punishment.
16. ٱتَّخَذُوٓا۟ أَيْمَـٰنَهُمْ جُنَّةًۭ
They have taken their oaths as a cover.
17. لَّن تُغْنِىَ عَنْهُمْ أَمْوَٰلُهُمْ وَلَآ أَوْلَـٰدُهُم
Their wealth and children will not benefit them at all against Allah.
18. يَوْمَ يَبْعَثُهُمُ ٱللَّهُ جَمِيعًۭا
On the Day when Allah will resurrect them all.
19. ٱسْتَحْوَذَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ
Satan has gained control over them and made them forget the remembrance of Allah.
20. إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يُحَآدُّونَ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ فِى ٱلْأَذَلِّينَ
Indeed, those who oppose Allah and His Messenger will be among the most humiliated.
21. كَتَبَ ٱللَّهُ لَأَغْلِبَنَّ أَنَا۠ وَرُسُلِىٓ
Allah has decreed: “I and My messengers will surely prevail.”
22. لَا تَجِدُ قَوْمًۭا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِ
You will not find a people who believe in Allah and the Last Day loving those who oppose Allah and His Messenger.
