India — The Muslims Forum expresses its deep concern and strong condemnation of the recent remarks made by Sajid Rashidi, who is publicly known for his associations with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), targeting Respected Member of Parliament Shri Dimple Yadav, a member of Samajwadi Party over her attire during a public appearance at a religious site. The comments which seem to be politically motivated, does not represent the true Islamic nature of respecting Women in the society.
Dimple Yadav, a respected political leader and member of the Samajwadi Party, was seen attending the event wearing modest and culturally respectful clothing, in full alignment with traditional Indian values and public decorum. Her appearance did not violate any religious or societal norms and was consistent with the dignity expected in such spaces.
The comments made by Sajid Rashidi are not only inappropriate and baseless but also reflect a dangerous trend of moral policing and personal attacks that have no place in a democratic and pluralistic society like India. Criticizing a woman's attire — especially when it is respectful and within cultural limits — is a regressive practice and undermines the spirit of tolerance and respect for personal freedom.
Muslims Forum declares:
1. We reject and denounce the remarks made by Sajid Rashidi as divisive and un-Islamic in nature.
2. Islam does not endorse targeting individuals, especially women, based on dress or personal choices when done within the bounds of dignity and respect.
3. We urge political and religious figures to refrain from making inflammatory statements that could harm communal harmony or target individuals for media attention.
4. We stand with women of all communities in defending their right to dress modestly according to their personal, cultural, or religious preferences without fear of judgment or harassment.
Muslims Forum reiterates its commitment to promoting unity, mutual respect, and genuine knowledge in society. We believe that religion should never be used as a tool to shame, target, or divide. It is our collective responsibility to uphold the values of respect, justice, and decency in public discourse.
