Meaning: Qaf (The Arabic Letter) | Has 45 Verses | Revealed In: Mecca (Makki Surah)
1. ق ۚ وَٱلْقُرْءَانِ ٱلْمَجِيدِ
Qaf. By the Glorious Qur’an.
2. بَلْ عَجِبُوا۟ أَن جَآءَهُم مُّنذِرٌۭ مِّنْهُمْ فَقَالَ ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ هَـٰذَا شَىْءٌ عَجِيبٌ
But they wonder that a warner has come to them from among themselves, and the disbelievers say, “This is something strange!”
3. أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًۭا ۖ ذَٰلِكَ رَجْعٌۭۢ بَعِيدٌ
“Is it when we have died and become dust that we will be returned to life?” That is a far return!
4. قَدْ عَلِمْنَا مَا تَنقُصُ ٱلْأَرْضُ مِنْهُمْ ۖ وَعِندَنَا كِتَـٰبٌۭ حَفِيظٌۭ
We certainly know what the earth consumes of them. And with Us is a well-preserved Record.
5. بَلْ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِٱلْحَقِّ لَمَّا جَآءَهُمْ فَهُمْ فِىٓ أَمْرٍۢ مَّرِيجٍ
But they denied the truth when it came to them, so they are in a confused condition.
6. أَفَلَمْ يَنظُرُوٓا۟ إِلَى ٱلسَّمَآءِ فَوْقَهُمْ كَيْفَ بَنَيْنَـٰهَا وَزَيَّنَّـٰهَا وَمَا لَهَا مِن فُرُوجٍۢ
Do they not look at the sky above them—how We built it and adorned it, and it has no rifts?
7. وَٱلْأَرْضَ مَدَدْنَـٰهَا وَأَلْقَيْنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِىَ وَأَنبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ زَوْجٍۢ بَهِيجٍۢ
And the earth—We spread it out and placed firm mountains in it and caused all kinds of delightful plants to grow in it.
8. تَبْصِرَةًۭ وَذِكْرَىٰ لِكُلِّ عَبْدٍۢ مُّنِيبٍۢ
As insight and a reminder for every servant who turns to Allah.
9. وَنَزَّلْنَا مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءًۭ مُّبَـٰرَكًۭا فَأَنبَتْنَا بِهِۦ جَنَّـٰتٍۢ وَحَبَّ ٱلْحَصِيدِ
And We sent down blessed rain from the sky with which We grew gardens and grain to harvest.
10. وَٱلنَّخْلَ بَاسِقَـٰتٍۢ لَّهَا طَلْعٌۭ نَّضِيدٌۭ
And towering date palms with clustered fruit.
11. رِّزْقًۭا لِّلْعِبَادِ ۖ وَأَحْيَيْنَا بِهِۦ بَلْدَةًۭ مَّيْتًۭا ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ ٱلْخُرُوجُ
As a provision for the servants. And with it We revive a dead land—so will be the resurrection.
12. كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍۢ وَأَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلرَّسِّ وَثَمُودُ
Before them, the people of Noah denied, as did the companions of the well and Thamud.
13. وَعَادٌۭ وَفِرْعَوْنُ وَإِخْوَٰنُ لُوطٍۢ
And ‘Aad, and Pharaoh, and the brothers of Lot.
14. وَأَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْأَيْكَةِ وَقَوْمُ تُبَّعٍۢ ۚ كُلٌّۭ كَذَّبَ ٱلرُّسُلَ فَحَقَّ وَعِيدِ
And the people of the thicket and the people of Tubba‘—all denied the messengers, so My warning was fulfilled.
15. أَفَعَيِينَا بِٱلْخَلْقِ ٱلْأَوَّلِ ۚ بَلْ هُمْ فِى لَبْسٍۢ مِّنْ خَلْقٍۢ جَدِيدٍ
Were We then tired by the first creation? No! Yet they are in doubt about a new creation.
16. وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ وَنَعْلَمُ مَا تُوَسْوِسُ بِهِۦ نَفْسُهُۥ ۖ وَنَحْنُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ حَبْلِ ٱلْوَرِيدِ
We have created man, and We know what his soul whispers to him. We are closer to him than his jugular vein.
17. إِذْ يَتَلَقَّى ٱلْمُتَلَقِّيَانِ عَنِ ٱلْيَمِينِ وَعَنِ ٱلشِّمَالِ قَعِيدٌۭ
As the two recording angels, seated on the right and left, receive (each word he utters).
18. مَّا يَلْفِظُ مِن قَوْلٍ إِلَّا لَدَيْهِ رَقِيبٌ عَتِيدٌ
Not a word does he utter except that with him is an observer ready (to record).
19. وَجَآءَتْ سَكْرَةُ ٱلْمَوْتِ بِٱلْحَقِّ ۖ ذَٰلِكَ مَا كُنتَ مِنْهُ تَحِيدُ
And the agony of death will come in truth—"This is what you tried to avoid."
20. وَنُفِخَ فِى ٱلصُّورِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ يَوْمُ ٱلْوَعِيدِ
And the trumpet will be blown. That is the Day of Warning.
21. وَجَآءَتْ كُلُّ نَفْسٍۢ مَّعَهَا سَآئِقٌۭ وَشَهِيدٌ
Every soul will come with a driver and a witness.
22. لَّقَدْ كُنتَ فِى غَفْلَةٍۢ مِّنْ هَـٰذَا فَكَشَفْنَا عَنكَ غِطَآءَكَ فَبَصَرُكَ ٱلْيَوْمَ حَدِيدٌ
[It will be said:] “You were certainly unaware of this. Now We have removed from you your veil, so your vision today is sharp.”
23. وَقَالَ قَرِينُهُۥ هَـٰذَا مَا لَدَىَّ عَتِيدٌ
And his companion will say, “Here is what I have (prepared as a record) ready!”
24. أَلْقِيَا فِى جَهَنَّمَ كُلَّ كَفَّارٍ عَنِيدٍ
“Throw into Hell every stubborn disbeliever.”
25. مَّنَّاعٍۢ لِّلْخَيْرِ مُعْتَدٍۢ مُّرِيبٍ
Who hindered good, transgressed all bounds, and was steeped in doubt.
