Chapter 13: Surah Ar-Ra'd (سورة الرعد) - Simple English Translation of Quran
Meaning: The Thunder | Has 43 Verses | Revealed In: Medina (Madani Surah)

1. الٓمّۚۤ تِلْكَ ءَايَٰتُ ٱلْكِتَٰبِۗ وَٱلَّذِىٓ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ مِن رَّبِّكَ ٱلْحَقُّ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
Alif-Lam-Mim-Ra. These are the verses of the Book. What has been revealed to you from your Lord is the truth, but most of the people do not believe.

2. ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِى رَفَعَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ بِغَيْرِ عَمَدٍۢ تَرَوْنَهَا ثُمَّ ٱسْتَوَىٰ عَلَى ٱلْعَرْشِ وَسَخَّرَ ٱلشَّمْسَ وَٱلْقَمَرَۖ كُلٌّۭ يَجْرِى لِأَجَلٍۢ مُّسَمًّۭىۚ يُدَبِّرُ ٱلْأَمْرَ يُفَصِّلُ ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ لَعَلَّكُم بِلِقَآءِ رَبِّكُمْ تُوقِنُونَ
Allah is the One who raised the heavens without pillars you can see; then He established Himself above the Throne. He made the sun and the moon subservient, each running for a fixed term. He regulates all matters and explains the signs in detail so that you may be certain of the meeting with your Lord.

3. وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى مَدَّ ٱلْأَرْضَ وَجَعَلَ فِيهَا رَوَٰسِىَ وَأَنْهَـٰرًۭا وَمِن كُلِّ ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ جَعَلَ فِيهَا زَوْجَيْنِ ٱثْنَيْنِۖ يُغْشِى ٱلَّيْلَ ٱلنَّهَارَۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَـٰتٍۢ لِّقَوْمٍۢ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
And it is He who spread out the earth and placed firm mountains and rivers in it, and made fruits of every kind in pairs. He causes the night to cover the day. Surely in this are signs for those who reflect.

4. وَفِى ٱلْأَرْضِ قِطَعٌۭ مُّتَجَـٰوِرَٰتٌۭ وَجَنَّـٰتٌۭ مِّنْ أَعْنَـٰبٍۢ وَزَرْعٌۭ وَنَخِيلٌۭ صِنْوَانٌۭ وَغَيْرُ صِنْوَانٍۢ يُسْقَىٰ بِمَآءٍۢ وَٰحِدٍۢ وَنُفَضِّلُ بَعْضَهَا عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍۢ فِى ٱلْأُكُلِۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَـٰتٍۢ لِّقَوْمٍۢ يَعْقِلُونَ
And on the earth are neighboring tracts, vineyards, crops, and palm trees—some growing from a single root, others not. All are watered with the same water, yet We make some taste better than others. Surely in this are signs for people who understand.

5. وَإِن تَعْجَبْ فَعَجَبٌۭ قَوْلُهُمْ أَءِذَا كُنَّا تُرَٰبًا أَءِنَّا لَفِى خَلْقٍۢ جَدِيدٍۭۗ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِرَبِّهِمْۖ وَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلْأَغْلَـٰلُ فِىٓ أَعْنَاقِهِمْۖ وَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلنَّارِۖ هُمْ فِيهَا خَـٰلِدُونَ
And if you are astonished, then astonishing is their saying, “When we are dust, will we really be created anew?” They are the ones who disbelieve in their Lord, and they will have shackles on their necks, and they are the companions of the Fire—they will abide therein forever.

6. وَيَسْتَعْجِلُونَكَ بِٱلسَّيِّئَةِ قَبْلَ ٱلْحَسَنَةِ وَقَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلِهِمُ ٱلْمَثُلَـٰتُۗ وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَذُو مَغْفِرَةٍۢ لِّلنَّاسِ عَلَىٰ ظُلْمِهِمْۖ وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَشَدِيدُ ٱلْعِقَابِ
They ask you to hasten the evil before the good, though many examples have already passed before them. Indeed, your Lord is full of forgiveness for people despite their wrongdoing, and truly your Lord is severe in punishment.

7. وَيَقُولُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَوْلَآ أُنزِلَ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَةٌۭ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦٓۗ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُنذِرٌۭۖ وَلِكُلِّ قَوْمٍ هَادٍۢ
And the disbelievers say, “Why has a sign not been sent down to him from his Lord?” You are only a warner, and for every people there is a guide.

8. ٱللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ مَا تَحْمِلُ كُلُّ أُنثَىٰ وَمَا تَغِيضُ ٱلْأَرْحَامُ وَمَا تَزْدَادُۚ وَكُلُّ شَىْءٍ عِندَهُۥ بِمِقْدَارٍ
Allah knows what every female carries, and what the wombs lose and what they increase. And everything with Him is by due measure.

9. عَـٰلِمُ ٱلْغَيْبِ وَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِ ٱلْكَبِيرُ ٱلْمُتَعَالِ
He is the Knower of the unseen and the seen—the Most Great, the Most High.

10. سَوَآءٌۭ مِّنكُم مَّنْ أَسَرَّ ٱلْقَوْلَ وَمَنْ جَهَرَ بِهِۦ وَمَنْ هُوَ مُسْتَخْفٍۢ بِٱلَّيْلِ وَسَارِبٌۢ بِٱلنَّهَارِ
It is the same whether any of you speaks secretly or openly, whether one hides in the night or goes about in the day.

11. لَهُۥ مُعَقِّبَـٰتٌۭ مِّنۢ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِۦ يَحْفَظُونَهُۥ مِنْ أَمْرِ ٱللَّهِۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُغَيِّرُ مَا بِقَوْمٍ حَتَّىٰ يُغَيِّرُوا۟ مَا بِأَنفُسِهِمْۗ وَإِذَآ أَرَادَ ٱللَّهُ بِقَوْمٍۢ سُوٓءًۭا فَلَا مَرَدَّ لَهُۥۚ وَمَا لَهُم مِّن دُونِهِۦ مِن وَالٍۢ
For each one are successive angels before and behind him, guarding him by Allah’s command. Indeed, Allah does not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves. And when Allah intends harm for a people, there is no repelling it, and they will have no protector besides Him.


12. هُوَ ٱلَّذِى يُرِيكُمُ ٱلْبَرْقَ خَوْفًۭا وَطَمَعًۭا وَيُنشِئُ ٱلسَّحَابَ ٱلثِّقَالَ
It is He who shows you lightning, inspiring fear and hope, and He produces heavy clouds.

13. وَيُسَبِّحُ ٱلرَّعْدُ بِحَمْدِهِۦ وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ مِنْ خِيفَتِهِۦ وَيُرْسِلُ ٱلصَّوَٰعِقَ فَيُصِيبُ بِهَا مَن يَشَآءُ وَهُمْ يُجَـٰدِلُونَ فِى ٱللَّهِ وَهُوَ شَدِيدُ ٱلْمِحَالِ
The thunder glorifies His praise, as do the angels in awe of Him. He sends thunderbolts, striking with them whomever He wills, yet they dispute about Allah—while He is mighty in power.

14. لَهُۥ دَعْوَةُ ٱلْحَقِّۚ وَٱلَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِهِۦ لَا يَسْتَجِيبُونَ لَهُم بِشَىْءٍ إِلَّا كَبَاسِطِ كَفَّيْهِ إِلَى ٱلْمَآءِ لِيَبْلُغَ فَاهُ وَمَا هُوَ بِبَـٰلِغِهِۦۚ وَمَا دُعَآءُ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ إِلَّا فِى ضَلَـٰلٍۢ
To Him \[alone] is the true call. As for those they call upon besides Him, they cannot respond to them at all—just like someone who stretches out his hands toward water to reach his mouth, but it never reaches it. And the prayer of the disbelievers is nothing but misguidance.

15. وَلِلَّهِ يَسْجُدُ مَن فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ طَوْعًۭا وَكَرْهًۭا وَظِلَـٰلُهُم بِٱلْغُدُوِّ وَٱلْـَٔاصَالِ
To Allah prostrate all who are in the heavens and the earth—willingly or unwillingly—and so do their shadows, in the mornings and the evenings.

16. قُلْ مَن رَّبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِۖ قُلِ ٱللَّهُۚ قُلْ أَفَٱتَّخَذْتُم مِّن دُونِهِۦٓ أَوْلِيَآءَ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ لِأَنفُسِهِمْ نَفْعًۭا وَلَا ضَرًّۭاۚ قُلْ هَلْ يَسْتَوِى ٱلْأَعْمَىٰ وَٱلْبَصِيرُ أَمْ هَلْ تَسْتَوِى ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتُ وَٱلنُّورُۗ أَمْ جَعَلُوا۟ لِلَّهِ شُرَكَآءَ خَلَقُوا۟ كَخَلْقِهِۦ فَتَشَـٰبَهَ ٱلْخَلْقُ عَلَيْهِمۚ قُلِ ٱللَّهُ خَـٰلِقُ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ وَهُوَ ٱلْوَٰحِدُ ٱلْقَهَّارُ
Say, “Who is the Lord of the heavens and the earth?” Say, “Allah.” Say, “Have you then taken besides Him protectors who cannot even benefit or harm themselves?” Say, “Can the blind and the seeing be equal? Or can darkness and light be equal? Or have they assigned to Allah partners who created like His creation, so that the creations seemed alike to them?” Say, “Allah is the Creator of all things, and He is the One, the Irresistible.”

17. أَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءًۭ فَسَالَتْ أَوْدِيَةٌۢ بِقَدَرِهَا فَٱحْتَمَلَ ٱلسَّيْلُ زَبَدًۭا رَّابِيًۭاۖ وَمِمَّا يُوقِدُونَ عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلنَّارِ ٱبْتِغَآءَ حِلْيَةٍ أَوْ مَتَـٰعٍۢ زَبَدٌۭ مِّثْلُهُۥۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يَضْرِبُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْحَقَّ وَٱلْبَـٰطِلَۚ فَأَمَّا ٱلزَّبَدُ فَيَذْهَبُ جُفَآءًۭۖ وَأَمَّا مَا يَنفَعُ ٱلنَّاسَ فَيَمْكُثُ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يَضْرِبُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْأَمْثَـٰلَ
He sends down water from the sky, so valleys flow according to their capacity, and the flood carries along swelling foam. And from what they heat in fire to make ornaments or utensils comes a similar foam. This is how Allah illustrates truth and falsehood: as for the foam, it vanishes like scum; but what benefits people remains on the earth. This is how Allah presents examples.

18. لِلَّذِينَ ٱسْتَجَابُوا۟ لِرَبِّهِمُ ٱلْحُسْنَىٰۚ وَٱلَّذِينَ لَمْ يَسْتَجِيبُوا۟ لَهُۥ لَوْ أَنَّ لَهُم مَّا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًۭا وَمِثْلَهُۥ مَعَهُۥ لَٱفْتَدَوْا۟ بِهِۦۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ سُوٓءُ ٱلْحِسَابِۖ وَمَأْوَىٰهُمْ جَهَنَّمُۖ وَبِئْسَ ٱلْمِهَادُ
For those who respond to their Lord is the best reward. But those who do not respond to Him—even if they possessed all that is in the earth and as much again—they would offer it as ransom. It is they who will have the worst reckoning, and their abode is Hell—what a miserable resting place!

19. أَفَمَن يَعْلَمُ أَنَّمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ مِن رَّبِّكَ ٱلْحَقُّ كَمَنْ هُوَ أَعْمَىٰۚ إِنَّمَا يَتَذَكَّرُ أُو۟لُوا۟ ٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِ
Is the one who knows that what has been revealed to you from your Lord is the truth like one who is blind? Only those who possess understanding will remember.

20. ٱلَّذِينَ يُوفُونَ بِعَهْدِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَا يَنقُضُونَ ٱلْمِيثَـٰقَ
Those who fulfill the covenant of Allah and do not break the pledge,

21. وَٱلَّذِينَ يَصِلُونَ مَآ أَمَرَ ٱللَّهُ بِهِۦٓ أَن يُوصَلَ وَيَخْشَوْنَ رَبَّهُمْ وَيَخَافُونَ سُوٓءَ ٱلْحِسَابِ
And those who join what Allah has commanded to be joined, and fear their Lord, and dread the evil of the reckoning—

22. وَٱلَّذِينَ صَبَرُوا۟ ٱبْتِغَآءَ وَجْهِ رَبِّهِمْ وَأَقَامُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَأَنفَقُوا۟ مِمَّا رَزَقْنَـٰهُمْ سِرًّۭا وَعَلَانِيَةًۭ وَيَدْرَءُونَ بِٱلْحَسَنَةِ ٱلسَّيِّئَةَ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ عُقْبَى ٱلدَّارِ
And those who endure patiently, seeking the face of their Lord, establish prayer, spend from what We have provided for them secretly and publicly, and repel evil with good—it is they who will have the ultimate abode.

23. جَنَّـٰتُ عَدْنٍۢ يَدْخُلُونَهَا وَمَن صَلَحَ مِنْ ءَابَآئِهِمْ وَأَزْوَٰجِهِمْ وَذُرِّيَّـٰتِهِمْۖ وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ يَدْخُلُونَ عَلَيْهِم مِّن كُلِّ بَابٍۢ
Gardens of perpetual residence which they will enter, along with the righteous among their ancestors, spouses, and descendants. And the angels will enter upon them from every gate,

24. سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَيْكُم بِمَا صَبَرْتُمْۚ فَنِعْمَ عُقْبَى ٱلدَّارِ
Saying, “Peace be upon you for your perseverance.” How excellent is the ultimate abode!

25. وَٱلَّذِينَ يَنقُضُونَ عَهْدَ ٱللَّهِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مِيثَـٰقِهِۦ وَيَقْطَعُونَ مَآ أَمَرَ ٱللَّهُ بِهِۦٓ أَن يُوصَلَ وَيُفْسِدُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِۙ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ لَهُمُ ٱللَّعْنَةُ وَلَهُمْ سُوٓءُ ٱلدَّارِ
But those who break the covenant of Allah after contracting it, and sever what Allah has commanded to be joined, and spread corruption in the land—it is they who are cursed, and theirs will be the worst home.

26. ٱللَّهُ يَبْسُطُ ٱلرِّزْقَ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَيَقْدِرُۚ وَفَرِحُوا۟ بِٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَاۖ وَمَا ٱلْحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنْيَآ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ إِلَّا مَتَـٰعٌۭ
Allah enlarges provision for whom He wills and restricts it. And they rejoice in the life of this world, while the life of this world is nothing compared to the Hereafter but a fleeting enjoyment.

27. وَيَقُولُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَوْلَآ أُنزِلَ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَةٌۭ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦۗ قُلْ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُضِلُّ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَهْدِىٓ إِلَيْهِ مَنْ أَنَابَ
And the disbelievers say, “Why has no sign been sent down to him from his Lord?” Say, “Indeed, Allah leaves to stray whom He wills and guides to Himself whoever turns to Him in repentance.”

28. ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَتَطْمَئِنُّ قُلُوبُهُم بِذِكْرِ ٱللَّهِۗ أَلَا بِذِكْرِ ٱللَّهِ تَطْمَئِنُّ ٱلْقُلُوبُ
Those who believe and whose hearts find rest in the remembrance of Allah—verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest.

29. ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ طُوبَىٰ لَهُمْ وَحُسْنُ مَـَٔابٍۢ
Those who believe and do righteous deeds—blessed are they, and a beautiful final return awaits them.

30. كَذَٰلِكَ أَرْسَلْنَـٰكَ فِىٓ أُمَّةٍۢ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلِهَآ أُمَمٌۭ لِّتَتْلُوَا۟ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْكَ وَهُمْ يَكْفُرُونَ بِٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِۚ قُلْ هُوَ رَبِّى لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّآ هُوَۖ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَإِلَيْهِ مَتَابِ
Thus We have sent you to a nation before whom other nations had passed away, so that you may recite to them what We have revealed to you. But they disbelieve in the Most Gracious. Say, “He is my Lord. There is no deity except Him. In Him I put my trust, and to Him I turn in repentance.”

31. وَلَوْ أَنَّ قُرْءَانًۭا سُيِّرَتْ بِهِ ٱلْجِبَالُ أَوْ قُطِّعَتْ بِهِ ٱلْأَرْضُ أَوْ كُلِّمَ بِهِ ٱلْمَوْتَىٰۗ بَل لِّلَّهِ ٱلْأَمْرُ جَمِيعًۭاۗ أَفَلَمْ يَاْيْـَٔسِ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ أَلَّوْ يَشَآءُ ٱللَّهُ لَهَدَى ٱلنَّاسَ جَمِيعًۭاۗ وَلَا يَزَالُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ تُصِيبُهُم بِمَا صَنَعُوا۟ قَارِعَةٌ أَوْ تَحُلُّ قَرِيبًۭا مِّن دَارِهِمْ حَتَّىٰ يَأْتِىَ وَعْدُ ٱللَّهِۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُخْلِفُ ٱلْمِيعَادَ
If there were a Quran by which mountains could be moved, or the earth could be split, or the dead could be made to speak—it would be this one. But all matters are with Allah. Do not those who believe know that, had Allah willed, He could have guided all humanity? And the disbelievers will continue to be afflicted with disasters because of what they have done—or a calamity will happen near their homes—until the promise of Allah comes. Indeed, Allah does not fail in His promise.

32. وَلَقَدِ ٱسْتُهْزِئَ بِرُسُلٍۢ مِّن قَبْلِكَ فَأَمْلَيْتُ لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ ثُمَّ أَخَذْتُهُمْۖ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عِقَابِ
Messengers were ridiculed before you, but I gave respite to the disbelievers—then I seized them. And how severe was My punishment!

33. أَفَمَنۡ هُوَ قَآٮِٕمٌ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ نَفۡسٍۢ بِمَا كَسَبَتۡۗ وَجَعَلُوا۟ لِلَّهِ شُرَكَآءَ قُلۡ سَمُّوهُمۡۚ أَمۡ تُنَبِّـُٔونَهُۥ بِمَا لَا يَعۡلَمُ فِى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ أَم بِظَـٰهِرٍۢ مِّنَ ٱلۡقَوۡلِۗ بَلۡ زُيِّنَ لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مَكۡرُهُمۡ وَصُدُّوا۟ عَنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِۗ وَمَن يُضۡلِلِ ٱللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُۥ مِنۡ هَادٍۢ
Then is He who watches every soul for what it earns \[like any other]? Yet they attribute partners to Allah. Say, “Name them! Or do you inform Him of what He does not know on earth? Or are you just saying empty words?” No, but their plotting was made appealing to the disbelievers, and they have been hindered from the path. And whomever Allah leaves to stray—there is no guide for him.

34. لَهُمْ عَذَابٌۭ فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَاۖ وَلَعَذَابُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ أَشَقُّۖ وَمَا لَهُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ مِن وَاقٍ
They will have punishment in this worldly life, and surely the punishment of the Hereafter is even harsher. And they will have no protector against Allah.

35. مَّثَلُ ٱلْجَنَّةِ ٱلَّتِى وُعِدَ ٱلْمُتَّقُونَۖ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُۖ أُكُلُهَا دَآئِمٌۭ وَظِلُّهَاۚ تِلْكَ عُقْبَى ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّقَوا۟ۖ وَعُقْبَى ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ ٱلنَّارُ
The description of the Paradise promised to the righteous: rivers flow beneath it, its food is everlasting, and so is its shade. That is the outcome for the righteous. But the outcome for the disbelievers is the Fire.

36. وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ يَفْرَحُونَ بِمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَۖ وَمِنَ ٱلْأَحْزَابِ مَن يُنكِرُ بَعْضَهُۥۚ قُلْ إِنَّمَآ أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أَعْبُدَ ٱللَّهَ وَلَآ أُشْرِكَ بِهِۦۚ إِلَيْهِ أَدْعُوا۟ وَإِلَيْهِ مَـَٔابِ
Those to whom We have given the Book rejoice in what has been revealed to you. But among the \[opposing] factions are those who deny part of it. Say, “I have only been commanded to worship Allah and not to associate anything with Him. To Him I invite, and to Him is my return.”

37. وَكَذَٰلِكَ أَنزَلْنَـٰهُ حُكْمًا عَرَبِيًّۭاۚ وَلَئِنِ ٱتَّبَعْتَ أَهْوَآءَهُم بَعْدَ مَا جَآءَكَ مِنَ ٱلْعِلْمِ مَا لَكَ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ مِن وَلِىٍّۢ وَلَا وَاقٍۢ
And thus We have revealed it as an Arabic ruling. And if you were to follow their desires after what has come to you of knowledge, you would have no protector or defender against Allah.

38. وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا رُسُلًۭا مِّن قَبْلِكَ وَجَعَلْنَا لَهُمْ أَزْوَٰجًۭا وَذُرِّيَّةًۭۚ وَمَا كَانَ لِرَسُولٍ أَن يَأْتِىَ بِـَٔايَةٍ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّهِۗ لِكُلِّ أَجَلٍۢ كِتَابٌۭ
And We certainly sent messengers before you and made for them wives and descendants. And no messenger could bring a sign except by Allah’s permission. For every term is a decree.

39. يَمْحُوا۟ ٱللَّهُ مَا يَشَآءُ وَيُثْبِتُۖ وَعِندَهُۥٓ أُمُّ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ
Allah eliminates what He wills and confirms what He wills, and with Him is the Mother of the Book.

40. وَإِن مَّا نُرِيَنَّكَ بَعْضَ ٱلَّذِى نَعِدُهُمْ أَوْ نَتَوَفَّيَنَّكَ فَإِنَّمَا عَلَيْكَ ٱلْبَلَـٰغُ وَعَلَيْنَا ٱلْحِسَابُ
Whether We show you part of what We promise them or cause you to die \[before it], your duty is only to convey \[the message], and Ours is the reckoning.

41. أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ أَنَّا نَأْتِى ٱلْأَرْضَ نَنقُصُهَا مِنْ أَطْرَافِهَاۚ وَٱللَّهُ يَحْكُمُ لَا مُعَقِّبَ لِحُكْمِهِۦۚ وَهُوَ سَرِيعُ ٱلْحِسَابِ
Do they not see that We are reducing the land from its borders? Allah decides—there is no adjuster of His decision. And He is swift in reckoning.

42. وَقَدْ مَكَرَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ فَلِلَّهِ ٱلْمَكْرُ جَمِيعًۭاۖ يَعْلَمُ مَا تَكْسِبُ كُلُّ نَفْسٍۢۖ وَسَيَعْلَمُ ٱلْكُفَّـٰرُ لِمَنْ عُقْبَى ٱلدَّارِ
And certainly those before them had plotted, but the entire plan belongs to Allah. He knows what every soul earns. And the disbelievers will come to know for whom is the final outcome of the abode.

43. وَيَقُولُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَسْتَ مُرْسَلًۭاۚ قُلْ كَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ شَهِيدًۭا بَيْنِى وَبَيْنَكُمْ وَمَنْ عِندَهُۥ عِلْمُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ
And those who disbelieve say, “You are not a messenger.” Say, “Sufficient is Allah as Witness between me and you, and whoever has knowledge of the Scripture.
