Gold Smuggling from Dubai to India – A Clear Violation of Islamic Ethics

Post by muslimsforum Verified »

Gold smuggling — whether for personal gain or organized trade — is not just illegal under the laws of India and international customs regulations, but also haram (forbidden) in Islam. Here's why:

Why It Is Haram in Islam:

1. Disobedience to Lawful Authority:

* Islam commands Muslims to obey the laws of the land as long as they do not contradict Islamic principles.
The Prophet ﷺ said: "The Muslim must listen and obey in all matters he likes or dislikes, as long as he is not ordered to commit a sin."
(Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim)
2. Cheating and Deception:

* Smuggling involves concealment and deceit, which are strictly forbidden.
Qur’an 83:1–3: “Woe to those who give less \[than due], who when they take a measure from people, they take in full. But when they give by measure or by weight to them, they give less.”
3. Harming Society:

* Smuggling causes economic harm, encourages corruption, and evades zakat and other fair taxes.
* Islam promotes justice and fairness in trade and public dealings.

4. Source of Haram Wealth:

* Any profit gained through haram means, including smuggling, is impure and cannot be blessed.
The Prophet ﷺ said: "Every flesh nourished by haram is more deserving of the Fire." (Sunan al-Tirmidhi)
Reminder to the Muslim Ummah:

We must never seek wealth through unlawful means. The short-term gain may come with heavy consequences in both dunya and akhirah. Fear Allah in all your dealings — halal rizq brings barakah; haram rizq brings destruction.
