Obligation 7 : Be In Power

Being born a Muslim doesn’t guarantee you to be a True Muslim. In order to become a True Muslim, you need to follow obligations set by Islam. Else, you will be considering yourself a Muslim, but Allah may not consider so.

Obligation 7 : Be In Power

Post by islamicforum Verified »

In Islam, the obligation to be “powerful” is not about dominance or oppression but about achieving strength in a holistic sense—spiritually, morally, intellectually, and materially. The concept of power in Islam aligns with fulfilling one’s responsibilities to Allah, oneself, and society in a way that promotes justice, dignity, and the betterment of all.

Key Aspects of Power in Today’s Context
Spiritual Power:

Strengthening faith and reliance on Allah (Tawakkul).
Performing obligatory acts like Salah, fasting, and seeking closeness to Allah through du’as and good deeds.
Having inner peace and resilience to face challenges with patience (Sabr).
Quranic Reference:
“And seek help through patience and prayer; indeed, it is difficult except for the humbly submissive [to Allah].”
(Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:45)
Intellectual Power:

Gaining knowledge and understanding in both religious and worldly sciences.
Contributing to advancements in technology, education, medicine, and other fields for societal benefit.
Developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Hadith:
“Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim.”
(Sunan Ibn Majah)
Economic Power:

Building financial stability to support oneself, one’s family, and those in need.
Engaging in ethical business practices and avoiding exploitation or injustice.
Contributing to community development and being charitable.
Quranic Reference:
“And do not forget your share of the world, and do good as Allah has done good to you.”
(Surah Al-Qasas, 28:77)
Social and Political Power:

Working to establish justice, uphold human rights, and ensure the welfare of the community.
Being a voice for the oppressed and striving against injustice through peaceful and lawful means.
Encouraging unity and collaboration among people for collective progress.
Quranic Reference:
“Indeed, Allah commands you to render trusts to whom they are due and when you judge between people to judge with justice. Excellent is that which Allah instructs you. Indeed, Allah is ever Hearing and Seeing.”
(Surah An-Nisa, 4:58)
Physical and Emotional Power:

Maintaining health and fitness to fulfill one’s obligations effectively.
Cultivating emotional intelligence to manage relationships and conflicts constructively.
Hadith:
“A strong believer is better and more beloved to Allah than a weak believer, while there is good in both.”
(Sahih Muslim)
Practical Application in Today’s World
Building a balanced life that integrates Islamic principles with contemporary demands.
Advocating for justice and contributing positively to society in all spheres—economic, social, political, and environmental.
Using power responsibly to uplift others and promote the values of compassion, fairness, and integrity.
The Islamic obligation of being powerful is about striving for excellence in all aspects of life while remaining humble and conscious of one’s ultimate accountability to Allah.
