The Halal do Brasil project is advancing its global presence by arranging a trade mission to Malaysia and Singapore, set to take place from September 14 to 20. This initiative offers Brazilian food and beverage companies a unique opportunity to explore business prospects in two of Southeast Asia's key Muslim-majority markets.
Organized by the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) and Apex Brasil, this mission is part of a broader strategy to promote Brazilian halal-certified products in international markets. Alongside the trade mission, participating companies will also present their products at MIHAS 2025, the world’s largest halal trade exhibition, taking place in Malaysia from September 17 to 20.
During a recent webinar titled Malaysia and Singapore: Opportunities in Southeast Asia, experts provided insights into local market dynamics and emphasized the economic significance of this region. ABCC Vice President Mohamad Mourad highlighted that access to these markets could tap into a larger \$6–\$7 trillion consumer base across 57 countries. He emphasized the importance of halal certification, noting that it enhances acceptance and trust among Southeast Asian and Arab consumers.
Brazil’s agricultural attachés in Malaysia and Singapore, Dalci Bagolin and Luiz Caruso, pointed out that both nations serve as regional trade hubs. Malaysia has a growing demand for ingredients like cocoa, cotton, coffee, and açaí, while Singapore, a re-exporting giant, is known for its open market and ease of doing business. However, the market is highly competitive, with products from Europe, the U.S., and nearby countries all competing for consumer attention and shelf space.
Fernanda Dantas, Project Manager at ABCC, underlined the strategic nature of the mission, stating that it allows companies to experience market potential firsthand before making long-term commitments. For exporters already equipped with halal certification, MIHAS offers a high-level platform to connect with international buyers and expand their reach.
This will be the third time Halal do Brasil participates in MIHAS, signaling Brazil’s growing influence and credibility in the global halal marketplace.
